Vacancy: Receptionist for September 2024 Start.
Overview: An exciting opportunity to join a new independent school that is going into its fourth year of operation. The King Alfred School has a strong sense of community and purpose. Our growing school now requires higher administration needs and we now need to recruit more team members.
Description: This position offers a unique opportunity to revive the long-lost heritage of Classical Christian Education in England by joining a team of enthusiastic parents and teachers to help establish the country’s first Classical Christian school. Our ideal candidate will be someone who has worked in customer service before in a public facing role. We are looking for someone who has a good telephone manner and who presents professionally at all times.
This position is part time (2 days a week) The receptionist is the first person prospective parents, existing parents and our stakeholders are greeted by, so it is therefore imperative that this person represents our school well.
Salary and hours: £12 per hour. 2 days a week, days to be decided. 8am - 3:30pm tbc. (Monday - Friday) 37 weeks per year. One year contract subject to a successful term’s probation.
Holidays: The contract is term time, pay will be staggered over 12 equal monthly payments.
Responsibilities:
● Answering the phone, taking messages, handling admissions enquiries, parent enquiries, dealing with contractors, deliveries and liaising with the department for education and others.
● Keeping an up to date attendance and absence record and pupil data.
● Accounting and bookkeeping, uploading receipts to quickbooks and keeping a record of bank statements and invoices.
● Collecting post and making trips to the post office.
● Ordering stationary and ensuring essential stock is always maintained.
● Signing guests in and out.
● Welcoming visitors and offering refreshments.
● Writing letters and sending emails out to various parties.
● Helping staff with teaching resources.
● The role will also include break and lunchtime duties and depending on agreed hours may also include running an afterschool club tbc.

Description: Keeping our school clean and hygienic everyday.
Salary and hours: £12 per hour. 2 hours a day Monday - Friday. 1:30-3:30 pm each day. (Monday - Friday) 37 weeks per year, One year contract. subject to a successful term’s probation.
Holidays: The contract is term time, pay will be based on hours worked and on the timesheet for hours completed each month.
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning all areas of school including kitchen, classrooms, offices, all toilets, hall etc.
- Cleaning involves vacuuming, cleaning all surfaces, dusting and ensuring high dusting and deeper cleans are carried out.
- Keeping a timesheet of hours.
- Keeping a constant stock of items and informing administration staff of any stock needs well in advance of running out.
- Using hygienic practices.
- Maintaining professional conduct to reflect a school setting.
